FNQ - And a Warm G'Day to You!

7/10-7/11 - From the cold and rainy countryside of a New Zealand winter we hopped on a few planes to get to FNQ - Far North Queensland, the warm weather, sandy beaches, rain forest realness, and deadly animals, most notably my deadly sister from another mister Di Drew!

We couldn't hit the Southern Hemisphere without a trip to visit Ms. Drew of course and what better reason than Di's marriage to Dan! although there were plenty of wedding guests to entertain, we managed to fit in some site seeing in between the wedding madness.  First stop, on a van to the Daintree Rainforest.  Daintree is the oldest rainforest in the world.  We went to an exceptionally cool discovery center that had just opened up a year previous.

About to be attacked by the vicious Connecticut bear of the forest!

Pano trick photography at the top canopy of the rainforest.   We climbed this really tall tower for this rare view.

A beautiful day to look out over the trees.

Eco tourists gone wild.

Lots of beautiful little streams that double as Cassowary Runs.

Part of this attraction was animated statues that showed what dinosaurs were in this rainforest...cheesy? A bit, but interesting none the less.

On the way back from the center we stopped for the scenic view witnessing the rainforest coming all the way to the ocean!

Dan was an exceptional host shuttling us around the rainforest, and even providing cocktails there and back.  Altogether a nice way to spend our first day in Far North Queensland!
